Another Step in the Right Direction

As hoped, the new construction bid has come in around 25% lower than the first. We’re currently making some additional design and floorplan changes that will result in a larger and broader-use facility. Look forward to these new plans in the coming weeks.

We’ve reached about 185 Founding Members, with a good number of Founding Member online pledges that haven’t yet sent in their Founding membership Agreement. With the new construction costs, the Ogden Front has more life in it than ever. However, we still need to hit that 250 Founding Membership level to insure the financial viability of the project in the fragile first year. If you haven’t sent in your agreement, please do so today! And if you know of anyone that might have the vision that you first 185 members do, please get them an agreement!

We’re always interested in your feedback, but as you can see from this blog, we have received none. Our hope is to make this a community gym, but we can only do so if we hear from you. Please take a moment to post a comment on the blog and let us know you’re out there.

Really wish you were open here now.

Are we going to be mailed new founding member agreement contracts to take us into 2009?

Is there going to be some way to climb at both gyms if your a founding member? Say an extra amount added to your monthly membership?

We'll send out an email regarding that extension soon. Basically, we'll either send out a doc to sign and return, or just keep it simple and send out an email to respond to.

Ogden Founding Members' Founding Rates would include a membership to both gyms- one of the many benefits of signing up for a Founding Membership.

So glad to hear that you are still moving forward with plans to build. I thought for sure this economy had sunk your project like it seems to be sinking everything else planned for Ogden.

Me & my climbing partner got so frustrated with having to drive so far to enjoy any decent gym climbing that we decided to take some time off (as of January). We would never consider a break in climbing if the Front Ogden was open!

Looking at the progress, it sounds like it's time to start blitzing folks again.

My family and I couldn't be more excited about a climbing gym in ogden. we'll use it all the time.

We know that there are more people out there who would feel the same if they knew about it.

Jeff is right, I still run into people up at the boulder field who haven't heard about this. I also talked to a guy who filled out a contract at the old Summit Shop, but which must have been misplaced because The Front never got it. Hope there weren't many like this...

Yes, we're making really good progress, and i hope we can keep up the momentum. Once a couple of major pieces solidify we'll let you know about those too.

We'd love your help in spreading the word to everyone in Ogden. Do you have any ideas on how to do so on a budget?

We've got some business card size things that have pricing and URL information. If anyone is so inclined, I'll get those to you and you can keep some around to give out to interested people. Its just an easy way to give someone basic information and a reminder to go to the site when they get home. If you are interested, please email me at dustin (at) frontslc.com, or just come down to the SLC gym and pick some up.
